These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the website penguinpublishers.co.uk (the "Site") and the publishing, editorial, design, distribution and marketing services (the "Services") provided by Penguin Publishers ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Site or engaging our Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or the Services.
We provide professional author services including book publishing, editing and proofreading, cover and interior design, ISBN and publishing setup, distribution, audiobook production, book marketing, author branding and related services. The specific scope, deliverables, timeline and fees for any engagement will be set out in the individual quote or proposal we provide to you before work begins.
Quotes are prepared individually based on your manuscript and objectives and remain valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise. Work commences once a quote is accepted and any agreed deposit or payment has been received. Because our Services involve bespoke professional work, refunds are handled in accordance with the terms set out in your individual quote or service agreement. If you have a concern about any payment, contact us at info@penguinpublishers.co.uk and we will work with you to resolve it.
You retain full ownership of your manuscript and all intellectual property rights in your work. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of your book to us. You grant us a limited licence to use your materials solely for the purpose of delivering the Services you have engaged us for (for example, editing your manuscript, designing your cover, or uploading your book to distribution platforms on your behalf).
You confirm that the content you provide is your own original work or that you hold the necessary rights to it, and that it does not infringe the rights of any third party or contain unlawful material.
Deliverables and any included revision rounds are described in your quote. Additional revisions or scope changes beyond what is agreed may be subject to additional fees, which we will always confirm with you before proceeding.
Project timelines are estimates and depend on manuscript length, the services selected, and the timely provision of materials, feedback and approvals by you. We will keep you informed of progress throughout your project.
Distribution and retail availability involve third-party platforms (such as online retailers, print-on-demand providers and audiobook platforms) whose own terms, review processes and timelines apply. We do not control these platforms and cannot guarantee acceptance, ranking, sales performance or bestseller status on any platform.
You agree not to misuse the Site, including by attempting to gain unauthorised access, submitting false or misleading enquiries, or using the Site for any unlawful purpose.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under the law of England and Wales, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud. Subject to that, our total liability arising out of or in connection with the Services shall not exceed the fees paid by you for the specific Services giving rise to the claim, and we shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, or loss of anticipated sales or royalties.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version published on this page applies from the "Last updated" date shown above. Material changes affecting an active project will be communicated to you directly.
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
